I first read about Corbe in O Magazine. I think I yelled "Why am I finding out about this cool company that's right here in Detroit from a national magazine!?!" into my empty living room. Not only is their stuff beautiful, but ... The Fifty United Plates! come on! That's just brilliant! I still hope to visit their studio in Detroit but was very excited to find the Michigan plate available at City Bird in Midtown.
I immediately bought one as a house-warming gift for my friend, Sherry. She moved from Michigan to Long Island because of her husband's new job and I think it speaks to the quality of the porcelain and NOT my packing ability that I managed to transport it in my carry-on bag.
You can see that she loves it.
I like the idea of collecting the plates of all the states you've lived in, or even visited. Though the dream would be to own the entire collection. Just imagine the spread at THAT 4th of July party!!
Looking for a FATHER'S DAY gift for the dad that has everything? Get this dish and fill it with his favorite candy. Or fill it with fake (or real, if you like) turf and set a few golf balls on top. Another option, since these can be used for baking, is to bake dad's favorite cake inside.
*It would also make a great graduation gift for your favorite U of M or MSU student
