How To Guarantee You Get A Letter From Your Kid At Camp
June 27, 2016
My hilarious and brilliant friend, Jill Washburn, came up with a guaranteed way to get a letter from your kid away at camp. I wish I had thought of this when my kids were little.
She created a Mad Libs-style form letter and put several copies in her daughter's suitcase. Add some pre-stamped, pre-addressed envelopes and you are getting at least some information while they're away.
She gave me permission to re-print it here. Feel free to borrow this one or create your own. (And of course she has her own form letter all ready to go to reply! Like I said, she's a genius!)
If you go back to the Home page and scroll to the bottom there is a downloadable PDF next to the Subscription box. And why don't your Subscribe while you're there?!
I am having the best/worst/meh time of my life. The food here is awesome/average/barely edible. I love/hate/am tolerating my cabin mates. I have now made _____ new friends.
Over the last _____ days, I have gotten sunburned/scraped up/saddle sore/a lice infestation/all of the above/none of the above. I have not showered in _____ days. I am wearing my retainer constantly/most of the time/hardly ever/never (because I lost it). The last time I brushed my teeth was ________ days ago.
You would not believe how ______________ the _______________________ is here. The staff here is amazing/tolerable/clueless/apparently on some sort of work release or parole. On a scale of 1 -10, I give my counselor(s) a ___________.
The weather has been perfect/too hot/too cold/too wet/all of the above (what can I say? It’s Michigan). You would be so proud of me because ________________________________________ __________________________________________________.
I am looking forward to coming back next year/never coming back to this place ever/finishing the therapy that will help erase this experience from my brain.
