This is Pop Rouge (French for Red Pop) right before I took him home from Detroit Bikes on Griswold St. in Detroit. He's a limited edition Faygo B-type bike made in Detroit.
I heard about the Detroit Bikes/Faygo collaboration last year, but had not seen the bikes in person. My daughter and I stopped by Detroit Bikes before she moved to Minneapolis to see about getting a basket for her bike and once I saw the Faygo bikes I knew I had to have one. I'd been wanting to move from my mountain bike to a touring bike and this clinched it. They are so SPARKLY!
I'm so happy with the bike. It's light (I can get it in the back of my SUV by myself), it's comfortable, and it rides so smoothly; that's because of the slightly larger wheels, according the Detroit Bikes website. Someone asked me if three speeds were really enough - I don't think I used more than three on my 12-speed mountain bike. And I like the retro braking, it makes me feel like a kid again.
The purchase also includes a tune-up once a year. Every time we've been in the store they are helpful and knowledgeable. The first time we went in we didn't even buy anything. The gentleman working there helped us figure out which basket and lock my daughter would need and had great advice.
If you're not in the market for a bike they have lots of cool Detroit Bikes gear. I'll be back to get some.
